Douglas Yellin is an accomplished and respected entertainment industry veteran with 30 years experience producing theatrical features, television series, documentaries, music videos, IMAX(tm) movies, 3D films, and unique, custom immersive guest experiences, 4D Attractions, 360° Circlevision, Ride Simulations and multiple-media presentations for special venue attractions, museums, guest centers and brand-based installations around the world.
Through Matilda Entertainment, Doug produced: “Northern Light”, a multi-format 4D experience at Fort Edmonton Park in Alberta, Canada; “Beyond All Boundaries”, a multi-format 4D experience at the WWII Museum in New Orleans; “Niagara’s Fury”, 360 ̊Circlevision aerial multi-screen visitor experience at Niagara Falls; “U2 3D”, 3D theatrical movie documenting the world-famous Irish rock band U2’s concert tour through South America; “IWC Pilots”, corporate brand experience featuring aerial footage of vintage WWII airplanes; “The Great MGM Movie Journey”, multi-screen interactive video walk-through guest attraction; “Masquerade: Bodies In Motion”, 20 screen, multi-media presentation of videos, music, lights and dancers for Harrah’s Casino. Yellin was Executive Producer for “StarGate: SG 3000”, a photo-realistic CGI ride simulation film, based on the Stargate film and SG-1 TV series, and “Star Trek Voyager: Borg Encounter”, a 70mm 3D/4D attraction, based on the Star Trek Voyager series.
Prior to creating Matilda Entertainment, Yellin was Executive Producer for Iwerks Entertainment, supervising production of 70mm large format films, ride simulation films, 3D/4D attractions, 360° Circlevision experiences, and multi-media projects for theatrical release, theme parks, museums, special venues and unique attractions worldwide. Doug produced projects for clients such as CBS Eyemark (“Stealth”), NASCAR (“Daytona Dream Laps”), Discovery Pictures (“Wings; Thrill of Flight”), Experience Music Project (“Artist’s Journey”), Jive Records (“*NSYNC Bigger Than Live”), Saban Entertainment (“Power Rangers Ride”), Sony Music Box (“Berlin Symphony”) and Volkswagen Autostadt (“Panorama Tour” & “Das Geheimnis”).
Doug’s resume includes time as a Production Executive with major Hollywood production companies, having served as Vice President of Film Production for Village Roadshow Pictures and Tourist Films, Production Executive for New Regency Films and Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Story Editor at QOC Productions and Vestron Pictures, and President of PMLBE, a turnkey supplier of custom media attractions for location based entertainment and retail venues including Universal Beijing, Sony Center Berlin and Peppermill Casinos.
Yellin’s extensive film, television and video credits as Executive Producer, Producer and Production Executive include theatrical feature films “Back Of Beyond”, “Fortress”, “Power Of One”, “Guilty by Suspicion” and “Pretty Woman”; network television series “The Secret World of Alex Mack”, “Hollywood Safari” and “Time Trax”; home videos “101 Dalmatian Sing-Along”, “See The World”, and “Frightmare Stories”; groundbreaking music videos for bands like REM, Fleetwood Mac and Talking Heads; and documentaries “Future Visions” and “Teach Our Children”.
Recognized by colleagues at the Producer’s Guild of America in 2010 for his leadership skills and innovative vision, Yellin was elected to the PGA New Media Council Board of Directors. Doug served two years as Co-Chairman of the Special Venue Committee, where he spearheaded the Guild’s initiative with Entertainment Studios, Technological Companies and Guild Members indentifying and exploring opportunities for Producers in emerging digital technologies.
